Interaction between DNA and Copper(Ⅱ) Complexes with Phenanthroline and PhenylalanineZHANG Zhi-jun,LI Xi,HAO Li,LIU Peng,HU Shan-zhou(School of Sciences,Wuhan University of Technology,Wuhan 430070,China)The binding of DNA with the copper(Ⅱ) complex with phenanthroline and phenylalanine has been investigated by electrochemical techniques and absorption spectroscopy. The electrochemical results show that the electrochemical reaction of the copper(Ⅱ) complex on the glass carbon electrode is controlled by the process of diffusion. In the presence of DNA,the values of cathodic peak potential shift positively and the values of cathodic peak current decrease compared with that in the absence of DNA.In the meantime, absorption spectral properties reveal that the absorption peaks exhibit hypochromicity when DNA was added. These experimental results indicate that the copper(Ⅱ) complex can intercalate weakly into the base-pairs of DNA and the binding constant is 2.59×102 L/mol calculated by the absorption spectra.copper(Ⅱ) complexes;DNA;phenanthroline;phenylalanine
