Influence of Adipic Acid on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Poly Vinyl ChlorideLIU Ya-qun1,ZHANG Chao-can2 (1.Department of Applied Chemistry,Science School,Wuhan University of Technology,Wuhan 430070,China;2.Institute of Materials Science and Engineering,Wuhan University of Technology,Wuhan 430070,China)In this paper,the effects of the content of adipic acid on the crystallinzation,micromorphology and mechanical properties of polyvinyl chloride(PVC)were researched by differential scanning calorimetry,wide angle X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope and tensile test.The results indicated that when adipic acid content was 3%,the crystallinity and crystallite size of PVC reached the maximum,but the interplanar spacing was the minimum,as implied that PVC crystal was the most perfect.In addition,because of spinodal decomposition,there were some short micro-fiber formed,and their diameter became thin with the increasion of adipic acid loading.When adipic acid content was 3%,the micro-fiber was thick and a network was formed.Consequently,the tensile strength was the maximum,and the elongation at break point was also superior to PVC matrix.polyvinyl chloride;crystallization;mechanical properties;micromorphology
