Research on Superpave Design and Properties of Flame Retardanted Asphalt Mixtures with Aluminium HydroxideZHANG Shi-biao1,CONG Pei-liang2,CHENG Song-bo2,YU Jian-ying2 (1.Hubei Shiman Expressway Construction Headquarters,Shiyan 442011,China;2.Key Laboratory of Silicate Materials Science and Engineering of Ministry of Education,Wuhan University of Technology,Wuhan 430070,China)Flame retardant asphalt mixture with aluminium hydroxide(ATH) was prepared using Superpave designing methods.The effect of ATH contents on pavement performance and flame retardancy of Superpave 12.5 flame retardants modified asphalt mixture was investigated.The results indicated that the oxygen index(OI) of asphalt binder was increased when ATH was added.The Marshall stability of flame retardant modified asphalt mixture decrease,flow value and the loss of Marshall stability increase,while indirect tensile strength and dynamic stability of asphalt mixture increase and loss of indirect tensile decrease with the content of ATH increasing.The pavement performance of flame retardant modified asphalt mixture can meet the asphalt mixture design requirements when the content of ATH less than 40%.And simulation burning test showed that ATH can obviously improve the flame retardancy of asphalt mixture.bitumen;aluminium hydroxide;asphalt mixture; flame retardancy;pavement performance
