Research on Chloride Ion Permeability and Service Life Evaluation of Crumb Rubber ConcreteOU Xing-jin1,ZHU Han1,YU Xin-wen2(1.School of Civil Engineering,Tianjin University,Tianjin 300072,China;2.Tianjin Research Institute of Building Sciences,Tianjin 300193,China)Crumb rubber concrete(CRC) was made by replacing a portion of fine aggregates with shredded worn-out automobile tire particles or chips in Portland cement concrete. In this study, the chloride ion penetration in CRC with different rubber amount up to 55% in volume of fine aggregates was investigated under standard curing condition and natural curing condition by following the ASTM C1202 method.Test results showed that the resistance of CRC to chloride ion penetration had improvement compared with ordinary concrete in many cases;the performance of CRC with rubber particles was better than CRC with rubber chips under standard curing condition.Furthermore, the service life of CRC structures in chloride environment was evaluated theoretically by adopting the chloride diffusion model in concrete.concrete;crumb rubber;chloride ion;penetration;service life;evaluation
