Chemical Decolorization of Float Glass Tang Liying Cheng Jinshu Mao Yulan Wang Xingjuan (School of Material Science and Engineering , WUT,Wuhan 430070, China.)The chemical decolorization is made in laboratory of a soda lime silica float glass containing ferric oxide from 0.12 percent to 0.16 percent of ferric oxide. The color difference and transmittancy of the glass specimens are determined. The study compares the decoloring effectiveness of a mixed rare earth carbonate with pure cerium oxide. It is shown that the mixed rare earth carbonate is superior to pure cerium oxide and reduces the cost of decoloring agent by 50%.decoloring; float glass; cerium oxide; mixed rare earth carbonate
