Study for the Effects and Mechanisms of Barium Sulphate on the Formation of Alkali-Containing Clinker Che Yuankui;Wang Shanba(Lect.. Dept. of Material Enginearing. WUT., Wuhan 430070, China.)The effects and mechanisms of Barium sulphate Oil the formation andproperties of Alkali-containing clinker under different burning temperatures have beenstudied. The results show that while BaSO4, converts alkali to R2SO4, it also combines withAl2O3 to form anhydrous calcium sulpho-aluminate , thus decreasing aluminate content inthe interstitial phase. Tile influence of BaO on th burning of clinker is greater than that ofSO3.It solves mainly into belite to form more active a-C2S, but resists strongly to formAnte. Especially, when SO3/R2O mole ratio of clinker rises. the negative effect of BaO increase, resulting in a decrease in clinker qualities. Therefore, BaSO4, can not improve thequality of alkali-containing clinker by forming R2SO4, oppositely, it would lead to seriousdamages.: barium sulphate; alkali-containing clinker; burning; property
